I recently visited my favourite European city, Copenhagen, for the Jazz Festival and to indulge in my usual food exploration. I visit Copenhagen at least three times a year and am always asked the same question: why do you go to Copenhagen? My response is always the same: how can you go to Copenhagen and not want to return? The last city I was obsessed with like this was Paris, but honestly, I think Paris is over. It does nothing for me when I visit—no more butterflies, no love. I genuinely think that Paris has lost its charm as its essence is fading. In contrast, Copenhagen has managed to absorb many Western influences but still maintains its very unique charm.
Whenever I visit Copenhagen, I feel a sense of heaviness when leaving because it’s a city filled with beautiful people, excellent food, art, style, and stunning architecture. It’s one of the most vibrant cities I love dearly. Although I previously wrote a Copenhagen City Guide, I felt compelled to write another now that more options have been added to my list, which I want to share. I also want to highlight one particular choice I believe you should avoid. This guide isn't just a list of recommendations; it's a collection of my personal experiences, and each recommendation has been carefully selected to ensure an unforgettable visit to Copenhagen. I hope it helps you create your own unique memories in this vibrant city!
PS: Copenhagen can be expensive, but the high quality of everything in the city makes it so worth it. I love that everything is curated so well, ensuring that everything you buy, eat, listen to, and see is of the highest standard. For example, dining at Noma was just as intense a pleasure as eating at Yeero, a Greek gyro place. You can rest assured that your experiences in Copenhagen will be top-notch.

Stay Here!
Hotel Danmark
This is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a centrally located place to stay. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop, offers complimentary wine twice daily, and provides free morning coffee, making your stay special. Plus, their reward system is a great perk: book directly with them or any Brochner Group hotel, and you'll receive your eighth night free. The prices are reasonable too. If you're willing to splurge a bit more, consider staying at Villa Copenhagen or Hotel Sanders for an extra touch of luxury.
Scandic Falconer
I recommend avoiding this. It’s quite a contrast from when I last stayed in 2022. Recently, I stayed there for a night, and unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to those earlier memories. The hotel feels tired now and could really use some refreshing to match the quality of other hotels in Copenhagen.
Eat Here!
Studio X Kitchen
I’ve previously recommended this in the first edition of the Copenhagen City Guide, and I still wholeheartedly suggest you visit. Studio X Kitchen is a delightful spot for its tasty breakfast, refreshing drinks, friendly service, and lively atmosphere filled with such cool people. However, it’s starting to get quite popular with tourists, so the vibe might shift a bit soon. If you’re looking for other options, try Lille Petra Café, The Sixteen Twelve, or Auren’s Deli.
Fabro
I still stand by my previous recommendation! Head over here for some fantastic pasta and one of the best tiramisus I've ever had. They don't take reservations, so you might need to wait around for about an hour, but I promise, it's totally worth it. If you're short on time, maybe consider heading to Italo Disco for a more relaxed, refined evening.
La Banchina
I'm truly in love with this place! The food is fantastic, and the views are absolutely stunning—what's not to enjoy? One of the highlights that makes it especially worth recommending is the sauna, where you can enjoy a private session that lasts nearly two hours—super romantic! If the prices here feel a bit steep, don't worry, you can explore more budget-friendly options like Lille Bakery or Reffen nearby. Just make sure to stop by Noma Projects when you visit for gourmet delights that you will love.
Hija De Sanchez Kodbyen
My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. It was my first time here, and what an unforgettable experience. Hurry over and enjoy some of the best tacos you'll find in Europe.
Coffee & Bakery!
Lille Bakery
I absolutely adore the food and coffee here, just as much as I love the inviting space. It's one of my favourite spots in Copenhagen because it always encourages me to try new things, like goats' milk in my coffee- which is irresistibly delicious. I often come here for a fantastic breakfast, and it never disappoints.
Hart Bageri
Copenhagen holds a special place in my heart because of Hart’s incredible cardamom buns—they're truly one-of-a-kind and absolutely delicious. Although there are many spots around the city, my favourites are the ones on Galionsvej and in the meatpacking district, both of which are large, airy, and perfect for people-watching. I also love Juno and Rug Bakery if you're after other options.
Prolog Coffee
You'll find some great coffee here! Alternatives are Coffee Collective, Sonny, or Dallas Coffee. They're all wonderful options to try!
Louise Roe Gallery
Head over here for the most authentic matcha I've tasted in Europe. The atmosphere of this spot is simply magnifique. It’s a lovely gallery where you can buy items like beautiful crockery and coffee books—each carefully curated and stylish, just like you'd expect from Scandinavian design. Alternatives are Apotek57 or Brigade Gallery.

Drink Here!
Bar Poldo
If you're looking to enjoy some delicious tapas and drinks, or simply want to relax in a lovely atmosphere, this is the place to be. Alternatively, you might want to check out Bird Copenhagen.
Soho House
Head here for a stiff picante and incredible water views.
Touristy Loves!
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
I'm still completely in love with this museum! If you're curious about why, take a look at the original Copenhagen City Guide. I really just want to share that this place remains just as fantastic as ever. And honestly, my obsession with its beautiful grounds hasn't waned one bit. If you're looking for something else to explore, you might also enjoy visiting the Ordrupgaard Art Museum.
Shopping!
The Home of Ferm Living Copenhagen, Audo, Tekla
About 95% of my home furniture and furnishings are from Scandinavia, mostly Denmark. Every time I visit Copenhagen, I love stopping by these places for inspiration and unique finds — and I'm never disappointed. Even if you're just scouting for ideas, I highly recommend heading to these places!
