Recently, I surprised my partner Miro with a birthday trip to Stockholm! We’d visited once before, back in 2017, but I honestly remember very little—mainly because it was freezing cold, and I spent most of that trip huddled inside our hotel. For years, I wrote the city off entirely.
But after hearing so many friends gush about Stockholm—describing it as a chic mix between Copenhagen and Oslo—I decided it deserved a second chance. Besides, I’ve pretty much checked off every other major European city on my list!
And I’m so glad I went back—Stockholm completely won me over. If you're looking for a relaxed yet stylish city full of design-savvy locals, fantastic food, and rich culture, this one’s for you.
Here’s my curated guide to the places I loved (and a few I’d skip) to help you make the most of your visit to this stunning city.
Love, Tofi Caroline
Stay Here!
Blique by Nobis
I can’t stop raving about this place! It’s a beautifully designed hotel that effortlessly combines Scandinavian elegance with a Berlin-style edge. The lobby is a dream—chic, cosy, and perfect for unwinding with a drink or catching up on work. By evening, it transforms into a buzzing social spot filled with locals enjoying cocktails and canapés.
The rooms are spacious, spotless, and full of classic Scandi charm. Bonus: the bathrooms are stocked with luxe Byredo products, and the shower pressure is incredible. Honestly, only Soho House Amsterdam and Corinthia Lisbon come close.
And the breakfast? Chef’s kiss! I had to physically stop myself from going back for thirds. This hotel really has it all.
Nordic Light Hotel
If you’re after something more central. I’ll admit—the breakfast here is even better than Blique’s. But despite that, Blique by Nobis still holds the top spot in my heart.

Eat Here!
Franky’s Burger
This place blew me away. Touted as the best burger in Stockholm, I was sceptical—but it 100% lives up to the hype. Honestly, it’s one of the two best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. Yes, better than Gasoline Grill in Copenhagen and POPL. If you're a burger lover, this is a must.
Nybrogatan 38
A cosy bistro where Scandinavian and Mediterranean flavours meet. The food is delicious, and the vibe is lively and upbeat—a great place to soak up the local scene.
Pizza Bistro Vasastan
Not a burger person? This is hands-down the best pizza I’ve had in Stockholm.
Lisa Elmqvist
If seafood is your thing, don’t miss this gem. With roots dating back to the 1920s as a street market, it’s a beloved Swedish spot offering ultra-fresh dishes and a lovely atmosphere.
Pom & Flora (Södermalm)
A top-tier breakfast/brunch spot. Be warned—they don’t take reservations, so go early! The food and ambience are worth the wait.
Kapibara (Östermalm)
Mixed feelings here. The space is beautiful, and the gyozas were divine. But I didn’t love the Mazemen ramen—it was just too heavy for me. That said, Miro loved his Beef Sashimi and Shio Paitan. So, go—but maybe skip the Mazemen.

Coffee & Bakeries!
Bergstrands Bageri
Amazing coffee and heavenly cardamom buns. Sit outside if the weather allows—it’s lovely.
Lillebrors Bageri
This is an incredibly cosy, charming spot with incredible baked goods. A must-visit!
Drop Coffee (Södermalm)
This is an award-winning coffee shop that is totally worth the hype.
Socker Sucker (SoFo)
This is a win-win café. Stylish setting, tasty pastries, and fantastic coffee.
Café Pascal (SoFo)
One of my favourite café experiences in Stockholm. Excellent coffee and a buzzing atmosphere.
Stora Bageriet
For top-tier pastries and beautifully brewed coffee, this is your go-to.

Drink Here!
Lucy’s Flower Shop
This hidden, intimate cocktail bar ranks among the World’s 50 Best Bars (2022), and the drinks are utterly divine.
Fika and Wine
This is an ideal place to enjoy a curated wine list and traditional Swedish food in a lovely setting.

POP Stockholm
This is a treasure trove of vintage fashion. Everything is carefully curated—expect unique, quality pieces from various eras.
Asket: The Restore
If you love Asket or are into sustainable fashion, don’t miss their recycling boutique. Miro’s a fan, and it was a no-brainer stop for us.
Touristy Loves!
Fotografiska Museum
This is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. If you enjoy contemporary photography, this is your spot. Don’t miss the café/restaurant on the top floor—grab a coffee and enjoy the panoramic views.
SoFo (Södermalm South of Folkungagatan)
Hands down the coolest neighbourhood in Stockholm. Think indie shops, cafes, bars, and creative energy. Spend a whole afternoon exploring—you won’t regret it.
Old Town (Gamla Stan)
Quaint, charming, and perfect for a wander. Great for souvenirs and beautiful architecture.
Rio Hornstulls (Södermalm)
This gorgeous, historic cinema from the 1940s has beautifully preserved interiors. Screenings can be a bit delayed, but grab some popcorn and the strongest coffee in town and enjoy the atmosphere—it’s worth it.
