What do you love most about modelling, and how has the industry shaped your
perspective on beauty and confidence?
I love that modelling allows me to present creative ideas. Although I spend a lot of time in front of the camera, getting involved in the discussion behind the concepts I’m modelling and seeing my ideas come to life feels amazing. This has given me confidence in myself and has shown me that the inclusivity of people’s creativity is truly what brings beauty out in campaigns.
The fashion world is constantly evolving. What’s one change you’d love to see in the industry?
Outside of my interests in the fashion industry, my academic pursuits focus largely on the environment. Therefore, I’d love to see a change regarding sustainability. I think where possible, it’s important to reduce waste and overproduction in fashion to reduce our environmental footprint.
What’s been the most exciting moment of your career so far?
The most exciting moment of my career so far is working for a brand I had used prior to the job. Visiting their HQ and speaking to the people behind the brand was exciting. I found it both insightful and fun to get involved in promoting something I was already using, and as part of it, I got my hair professionally dyed, which I’d never had done before!
Many women admire models as icons of style and confidence. What is your personal approach to self-expression through fashion and jewellery?
I enjoy blending alternative clothing styles with unique jewellery pieces that complement each other. I enjoy exploring thrift shops, as it allows me to find new items and materials that add personality to my outfits, and I avoid pushing myself to stick to one specific ‘style’. I feel that by doing this, my fashion creatively showcases who I am and what inspires me.
What advice would you offer to other women aiming to enter the modelling industry?
I would say stay true to yourself, and it’ll pay off. It can be exhausting trying to keep up with constantly evolving beauty trends, so by sticking to your own style, you’re more likely to find jobs that are suited to your interests without having to alter your authenticity.
Who is the woman that has inspired you the most, and why?
My mum. She’s overcome many hurdles, from moving across the world to balancing being a doctor and a mother. Her hardworking demeanour constantly inspires me to be the most authentic, interesting person I can be.
What does female empowerment mean to you?
I feel that female empowerment represents women being able to make their own choices on how they lead their lives, without fear of judgment or inequalities getting in the way.
What’s your favourite or most worn AJOSEPO piece, and why?
The Demeter silver earrings. I love them because they’re comfortable, chic, and work with any outfit. I’ve had so many compliments wearing them!
