I am not going to sell Oslo to you! This city guide is for those of us who love low-key, stylish cities with excellent restaurants, bars, coffee shops, curated fashion, art, furniture stores, fantastic museums, and floating sauna experiences. Oslo ticks every box I’ve mentioned, so if you want to experience this for yourself, read the guide below and decide whether it’s worth a visit.

Stay Here!
Amerikalinjen Oslo
This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Scandinavia. It’s a bit pricey, but that’s common in Scandinavian countries. The hotel itself is centrally located with tasteful, eye-catching décor. The communal areas and rooms are chic and spotless. The staff are professional and welcoming. Be sure to enjoy the spa on the lower ground floor; you are very welcome.
Eat Here!
Must Have Breakfast at Amerikalinjen
A stay at the hotel includes an excellent continental breakfast. There are plenty of delicious food and drink options served, so don’t miss this.
Must Have Lunch At Koie Ramen
Head here for the best ramen I've had in Europe. It’s also affordable and conveniently located by the Munch Museum. Make sure to get a table near the kitchen so you can see the chefs at work.
Must Have Lunch At Bonder I Byen Grünerløkka
If ramen doesn’t do it for you, then head here for traditional Norwegian food with a modern twist. It’s also located in the trendy neighbourhood of Grünerløkka, so you will experience a different side of the city.
Must Have Dinner At The Little Pickle
Who doesn’t love a small, intimate neighbourhood restaurant with Nordic décor that’s featured in the Michelin Guide and Visit Oslo as a recommended spot for enjoying European cuisine with English traditions? I do! I especially loved the food, and also because Miro and I participated in an art installation at the restaurant, which was a cool experience. Top marks across the board. Just be mindful that it is pricey here.
Coffee & Drinks Here!
Coffee At Kuro Oslo
For truly great coffee and pastries enjoyed in very chic surroundings, head here. Grab a seat by the windows and people-watch stylish people while soaking up the city vibes.
Drinks At Territoriet
For an intimate bar experience with locals in a truly stylish part of Oslo, visit here. Sophistication and good wines in a posh neighbourhood — what's not to love?

Shop Here!
Clothes From F5 Concept Store, Dapper Oslo, Ensemble Oslo
For truly curated clothing collections by Scandinavian designers, head here. You will find it hard to leave any of the stores empty-handed. Miro had a great time here!
Kollekted Vy AS, Oslo
This is one of the best interior shops I have visited in my life. If I could buy every piece here, I would. However, I only left with candle sticks as I was travelling with hand luggage only. When I visit Oslo again, I will be sure to visit this store once more and come better prepared.
Touristy Loves!
Munch Museum
For one of the best museum experiences you will ever have in your life, head here. What I especially loved was that it wasn’t very busy, so I had the space and time to really take in the art, reflect, and revisit sections of the museum whenever I wanted. Also, the views from the museum are really lovely! I will definitely be heading here again.
The Norwegian Opera and Ballet
For one of the most memorable experiences I had in the city, head here. Unlike London, the Norwegian opera and ballet performances aren’t ridiculously expensive, so you can get excellent seats at reasonable prices. Be warned, though, the performance I saw was entirely in Norwegian, but that didn’t detract from my experience; in fact, I loved it for that.

Places To Avoid!
Don’t Attend Jazz at Gustav
Wow! This was shockingly poor. This isn’t jazz; it’s screeching noise and ugliness passing as jazz. Save your time and money and steer clear at all costs.
Avoid Eating At Mamma Pizza Dronningens
Ignore the good reviews; the Italian food here is among the worst I have ever been served. Maybe Norwegians don’t know how to cook Italian food — whether authentic or twisted versions — because the Italian food I had in Tromsø was also terrible.
