I’ve always loved fashion — it truly captivates me. I enjoy how clothes and accessories can transform your look or express your personality. This passion is deep-rooted, especially among Nigerians — particularly Lagosians. Lagos is a city that radiates style. Whether rightly or wrongly, your appearance often influences how you're perceived, so people naturally make an effort to look their best, no matter their background or job. This mindset stays with us, even when we move to new cities or countries. Whether you prefer a minimalist or maximalist style, presentation matters.
Everyone who knows me knows I adore style. In high school, I was voted Most Stylish in our yearbook — a title I cherish, especially given the vibrant fashion scene among Nigerians. My love for self-expression through fashion stayed with me when I moved to the UK for university and throughout my career. I’ve swung between maximalism and minimalism, but my lean towards minimalism began during my time in Copenhagen and working in investment banking. There was a subtle, almost subconscious shift toward a cleaner aesthetic. Minimalism provided a fresh canvas — a simple outline- allowing me to showcase personality through accessories or makeup.
This aesthetic naturally influenced AJOSEPO. I handle all our photoshoot styling and keep our fashion edits minimal to let the jewellery shine, or at least share the spotlight.
Over the years, I’ve often been asked how I style myself and others. While I’ve written about developing your personal style here, I thought it might be fun to show you what I wear during the week — live, in action. Sometimes, videos express what words and pictures can't.
Here’s a snapshot of what I wore last week — a living lookbook, if you will.
