I have a deep love for Barcelona — and honestly, how could you not? Culture? Check. Fashion? Check. Food, art, innovation, creativity? All major checks. It’s a city that effortlessly blends the old with the new: the relaxed charm of the Gothic Quarter, the buzz of modern neighbourhoods, the Mediterranean breeze, and golden beaches. It’s magic. Apologies to the locals who prefer to keep its magic under wraps and keep tourists at bay — but your city is simply too good not to shout about.
I've been lucky to visit Barcelona three times—twice with Miro and once alone for a long weekend, which subtly marked the start of AJOSEPO. Below is my guide, which I hope will inspire you to explore Barcelona from a fresh perspective.
Love, Tofi Caroline xx
Stay here!
The Hoxton, Poblenou
The first time I visited Barcelona, I stayed at the Sheraton — and honestly, it was underwhelming. It just had no vibe, which stood out even more in a city that thrives on energy and atmosphere. So, when I found out The Hoxton had opened an outpost in Barcelona, I was thrilled. And it did not disappoint. Hands down, it’s the best Hoxton I’ve stayed in. The location in Poblenou was spot on, and the rooms were spacious, spotless, and stylish — plus there’s a rooftop pool and taqueria that made it feel like a proper escape. The lobby was bright and welcoming, the sunny pizza terrace and slice shop were such nice touches, and the staff were warm and professional. If you're booking, treat yourself to a room with a tub — it’s worth every cent. And don’t skip the complimentary Three Marks Coffee drip bags. Genuinely delicious and such a great detail.

Can Cisa/Bar Brutal
I have to say — this was easily the best dinner experience I’ve ever had in Barcelona. The food was next-level exquisite (the oysters!), the natural wines were divine, and the atmosphere? Absolutely electric with a whole lot of locals and a few tourists. It was one of those rare places where everything just clicks. If you plan to go (and you absolutely should), make a reservation in advance — we didn’t and ended up waiting over an hour for a table. But honestly? Totally worth it.

This is another great place for brunch. You must order their French toast!
Little Fern
This brunch spot is absolutely amazing! Their New Zealand-inspired food with a Spanish twist is unlike anything I've ever tasted. If you visit during spring or summer, you simply must sit by the open window—the views of the bustling street are unbeatable.
Can Dende
Sometimes, you just need some good pancakes for breakfast or brunch. If this is what you’re after, head here. Also, do try their homemade lemonade!
Tope
For tacos with a great view, head here. You will be in for delicious Mexican-inspired food, stiff cocktails, beautiful people, and a great view.

If you're looking for an exceptional coffee experience, then this is a must-visit. The cosy café serves up delicious coffee and snacks in a cosy setting. Don't miss the opportunity to purchase coffee beans or drip bags to take home with you. Going to be honest with you, it may be a bit pricey, but trust me when I say it's worth every penny.
Nomad Frutas Selectas
This joint is another great coffee spot. The coffee is simply delicious. Like cafes in Barcelona, its space is modern, spacious, and visually engaging.

Noak Room
I found this charming independent furniture store that showcases a lovely mix of contemporary and vintage Scandinavian pieces. I loved it so much because it inspired me to put together a mood board to decorate my flat. The designs are truly unique and beautiful, and I’m sure I’ll be back to buy a few items the next time I’m in Barcelona.
Fusta’m Shop
This store specialises in homeware and furniture, featuring vintage and original pieces from the 1950s to the 1980s. These items are perfect for adding personality and character to your spaces.

This is another stylish concept store inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle. You can find vintage silver cutlery, antique fabrics, and furniture.

Art – Joan Miro Foundation
I absolutely love Joan Miro's work, and I make it a point to attend any foundation, gallery, or museum that showcases his pieces. One of the most impressive collections I've seen is at this museum, which boasts over 10,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, stage designs, and carpets from the artist. The earliest drawings, dating back to 1901, make it an extraordinary experience. I highly recommend visiting this museum to anyone who appreciates Miro's art.
Art – Picasso Museum
Head here if you want to understand the formative years of Pablo Picasso and how his style developed.
Art – Can Framis Museum
This is an art center dedicated to promoting contemporary Catalan painting. It has around 300 works on show dating from the 1960s onwards by a wide range of artists born or living in Catalonia. I loved it here and absolutely recommend a visit!
