Our latest Her Travel edition is with Leonora Gomes, founder of Miss Marketing, a London-based social media agency specialising in hospitality, travel and lifestyle.
Travel has long been part of Leonora's world. Before founding Miss Marketing, she was a travel creator, collaborating with hotels and restaurants around the world, and that curiosity about places, people and experiences has clearly never left her. It's one of the reasons we enjoy following her.
What we particularly like about Leonora's personal feed is that it goes beyond beautiful hotels, restaurants and destinations. Alongside her travels, she shares thoughtful observations on business, social media and building a personal brand, giving her content a refreshing mix of escapism and genuine usefulness.
Her approach to travel feels much the same. New York represents ambition and possibility; Los Angeles, freedom; while a road trip through Utah and Arizona left her in awe. She has strong opinions too: London wins for street food, New York for style and Paris, perhaps controversially, is the destination she just can't quite connect with.
For someone whose personal and professional worlds have been so shaped by travel, we knew Leonora would have plenty to say.

Best city or country you’ve ever travelled to and why?
The US, specifically New York and LA. They’re completely different cities, so I could never choose between them, but I love the energy of both. As a creative and an entrepreneur, there’s something about being surrounded by people who are ambitious, open to meeting new people and genuinely believe anything can happen. I always end up making great connections when I’m there. I can’t fully explain it, but I’ve always felt very connected to the States, I feel the most like myself there.
Least favourite city or country you’ve visited, and why didn’t it work for you?
Paris. Maybe I need to give it another chance because I visited in the middle of winter and it was freezing, but I just didn’t connect with the city or its energy in the way I expected to.
Where in the world did you feel the freest?
Los Angeles. There’s something about the combination of sunshine, space, creativity and possibility that makes me feel incredibly free whenever I’m there.
Best party city or country you’ve experienced?
Las Vegas. I’m actually not a huge party person, but Vegas is an experience in itself. There’s nowhere else quite like it, the energy, the hotels, restaurants, shows and the fact that there’s always something happening. It’s completely over the top, but that’s exactly what makes it so fun.
City or country with the best food overall?
Portugal, but I’m Portuguese, so I’m definitely biased! Outside of home, Italy. I absolutely love Italian food and could happily eat it every day. I had the best pasta & tiramisu of my live in Milan.
City or country with the best market/street food?
London. One of the things I love most about London is how many different cultures and cuisines you can experience in one city, and the food markets are incredible.
City or country that surprised you the most?
Utah and Arizona. I did a road trip through both and some of the landscapes genuinely felt like being on another planet. Nothing really prepares you for seeing places like the Grand Canyon in person, photos just don’t capture the scale of it.
Most beautiful place you’ve ever seen.
The Grand Canyon is probably one of the most breathtaking things I’ve ever seen. Cinque Terre in Italy is a very close second, but beautiful in a completely different way.
Most overrated destination you’ve been to.
Paris.
Most underrated destination you’ve visited.
Cinque Terre. I visited a few years ago and completely fell in love with it. The colourful villages, the sea, the food, it was one of those places that looked almost unreal.
City or country with the friendliest people?
The US. I find Americans incredibly open and friendly. I’ve had so many conversations with complete strangers that have turned into genuine friendships or connections.
City or country with the unfriendliest people?
France, although I’m very aware this is based purely on my own experience!
City or country which felt the safest for you?
The Cotswolds. There’s something incredibly peaceful about being surrounded by tiny villages and countryside. It’s one of those places where I can completely slow down.
A destination that pushed you out of your comfort zone in a good way.
Los Angeles. I first went with a real networking and business mindset, which meant intentionally putting myself in rooms I’d never been in before and starting conversations with people much further ahead in their careers than me. It pushed me to become more confident and taught me how much can happen when you’re willing to put yourself out there.
City or country with the chicest and most stylish people?
New York. People have such an individual sense of style there. Even just walking around the city can feel like people-watching at a fashion show.
Which trip taught you something about yourself?
New York. It made me realise how much I thrive in environments that are fast-paced, ambitious and full of possibility. It taught me a lot about the kind of life and career I want to build for myself.
A hotel or Airbnb that felt genuinely special?
A little cottage I stayed in in the Cotswolds. It’s still the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Everything was immaculate and the hosts had left us milk, eggs and bacon for breakfast. We’d wake up in the countryside with cows just outside, nothing extravagant, just incredibly thoughtful, peaceful and special.
